One Extension Could Hijack AI Assistants Across Chrome, Comet, Edge, Opera Neon and Claude

Security researchers at Forever Security discovered a vulnerability that allows a single browser extension to hijack AI assistants in several Chromium-based products. The affected products include Gemini Live in Chrome, Perplexity Comet, Microsoft Edge, Opera Neon, and the Claude in Chrome extension. By installing the extension, an attacker can gain access to each product's built-in AI with just one click. This vulnerability was demonstrated by the researchers, who showed that the extension can take control of the AI assistants across these five products. The extension's ability to access the AI assistants is a significant security concern, as it could be used for malicious purposes. The vulnerability affects Comet and Edge, among other products.
