Weedhack Malware Spreads via Fake Minecraft Clients and SEO Poisoning

Cybersecurity researchers have discovered that malware known as Weedhack is being spread to gamers through fake Minecraft clients. The malware is being distributed via several websites that pose as legitimate gaming sites, complete with branding, feature lists, and FAQs. These lookalike websites are designed to mimic real gaming projects. McAfee Labs has detected and blocked over 6,300 attempts to access these malicious sites. The distribution method also involves search engine optimization poisoning, which helps the fake sites appear in search results. The malware targets gamers who are looking for Minecraft clients.
