Sherlock Holmes was the “OG” Social Engineer

The character Sherlock Holmes used tactics that are now associated with social engineering, including disguises and surveillance, to gather information. His methods, which also involved building networks of informants, predated modern social engineering techniques. Holmes' approaches have relevance for both ethical and unethical hackers today.
