Reverse-Engineering Flock Cameras

Hackers have reverse-engineered a Flock camera, gaining insight into its software. Although much of the camera's sensitive storage remained encrypted, the analysis revealed that the device can detect people, vehicles, license plates, and bicycles. The camera is capable of producing multiple images of a single passing vehicle, with recovered logs showing it generated over a million images in several weeks. The computer-vision software also sometimes isolates specific details such as bumper stickers. The device's automatic license plate reader functionality is a key aspect of its design.
