Liquid Hackers Return 3,400 Bitcoin Taken via Elements Bug, Still Holding $47M in BTC

An unknown entity returned 3,400 bitcoin to the Liquid Network after taking nearly 4,000 bitcoin on September 6. The returned bitcoin were sent back the following day, as shown on Bitcoin's public record. Approximately 598.5 bitcoin remain unreturned, with the hackers still holding around $47 million in bitcoin. The Liquid Network, a Bitcoin sidechain, remains paused, preventing holders from converting their L-BTC tokens back into bitcoin. The pause is still in effect, leaving holders unable to access their bitcoin. The network uses real bitcoin to back its L-BTC tokens.
