LG to Ban Residential Proxies from Smart TV Apps

LG Electronics USA is planning to suspend smart TV apps that enable residential proxy nodes. This decision follows a recent discovery by researchers that many apps on LG's webOS store allow third-parties to route internet traffic through a user's TV. The researchers found that over 42 percent of games and other apps on the store have this capability. LG's move aims to address this issue by removing such apps from its platform.
