Hackers Breach Polish Power Plant Controls via Private Cellular Network and Shut Turbine

Hackers breached the controls of a Polish power plant by exploiting its private cellular network, allowing them to shut down a steam turbine and the process-water treatment system. The plant, which provides heat to around 50,000 residents, was affected by the attack. Despite the intrusion, customers did not lose heat supply. Recovery efforts began at 7:30 a.m. while the attackers were still present in the network. The attack highlights the vulnerability of critical infrastructure to cyber threats.
