‘Ghostjacking’ Attack Uses Poisoned Logs to Turn AI Agents Bad

A new type of attack, referred to as Ghostjacking, involves an attacker planting instructions in logs or alerts that record blocked requests. These instructions are then executed by an AI agent, allowing the attacker to manipulate the agent's behavior. The attack relies on the AI agent processing the poisoned log or alert, which contains the attacker's instructions word for word. This enables the attacker to turn the AI agent against its intended purpose. The Ghostjacking attack exploits the trust placed in AI agents to execute instructions from logs and alerts. As a result, the AI agent can be turned into a malicious entity under the attacker's control.
