Claude Used to Automate Exploitation and Data Theft Across Multiple Victims

Cybercriminals and state-sponsored hackers are utilizing Anthropic's Claude models for malicious activities, including automated exploitation and data theft, as well as other purposes such as weapons design and propaganda. These threat actors, referred to as Generative Threat Groups, encompass a range of entities, including state-sponsored groups and financially motivated criminals. The misuse of Claude models by these groups occurred between December 2025 and August 2026. The involved threat actors also include commercial entities. Anthropic has identified the misuse of its models by these groups. The models are being used for various malicious activities across multiple victims.
