737 Chrome VPN Extensions Caught Routing Traffic Through Proxies. Check If You Have One

A large collection of 737 free VPN and proxy extensions has been discovered, primarily targeting Russian-speaking users who want to access blocked services. These extensions aim to intercept browser traffic and redirect it through a proxy infrastructure. They were published by at least 40 different developer accounts on the Chrome Web Store and have been installed 75,486 times. Some of these extensions impersonate other entities, with 274 extensions mimicking 66 different ones. The extensions appear to be designed to compromise user traffic. They were likely used to gain access to sensitive information.
